can result in a system under achieving optimum performance, and in some cases impossible to accurately commission. Furthermore the system longevity is seriously compromised and a difficult baseline set for ongoing water treatment.
Margal Environmental offers a fully comprehensive pre-commission cleaning service in accordance with the current BSRIA guidelines AG1/2001.1(2004)
An updated BSRIA Guide is being published, set for release this summer of 2011.This new publication will also be shortly followed by the introduction of a new British Standard for sampling systems for laboratory analysis.
Microbiological
Margal Environmental have experience of cleaning many different types of systems, including
- CHILLED/LPHW/LTHW/HTHW/CONDENSER SYSTEMS
- HEAT RECOVERY/RUN AROUND SYSTEMS
- GROUND/AIR SOURCE SECONDARY HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS
- DISTRICT HEATING-INCLUDING CHP & BIOMASS PLANT
- FIT-OUT SYSTEMS
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING
- SECONDARY DOMESTIC HEATING(FROM HIU)
System methodology
- System review-Chemical compatibility-Commission ability
- RAMS (Method Statement & Risk Assessment)
- Effluent Discharge Licence Application
- Supply biocide dosing plant for system filling(if required)
- Pre Start -Supply water laboratory analysis
- System Ready Checks-Pressure test Certificate required.–Initial laboratory samples taken
- Dynamic Flushing-Velocities recorded.-Strainers cleaned as necessary
- Biocide wash (if required).-Laboratory Samples taken
- Chemical Clean-Strainers cleaned as necessary
- Second Dynamic Flush- Strainers cleaned as necessary
- Passivation- Back-flush all coils/sensitive plant and bring on line
- Final samples taken 4 days post backflushing for laboratory analysis
- System signed over for commissioning
Margal Environmental also have an extensive amount of plant for fit-out flushing, with self contained portable flushing rigs, fitted out with a gauge, manifold for flushing connections, strainer and flow measuring device. A chemical dosing point is also installed and all pumps are sites within a bund
On line chemical Cleaning
Closed and open vented systems which have degraded over a period of time, usually because of lack of a recognised water treatment programme require a different solution from a pre-commissioning cleaning regime.
The Problem
Closed/Open vented systems that have been without a recognised water treatment programme become prone corrosion and high levels of suspended solids within a system. This can lead to blockages of the low flow parts of the system and accelerate further corrosion. This can result in no heat/cooling transfer around areas of the system and a far lower level of efficiency.
These buildings are normally fully occupied making it impossible for the systems to be taken out of service and cleared the conventional way. (See Pre-Commission Cleaning)
The Solution
The Solution
Margal Environmental has a range of mechanical side stream that offer an alternative.
The mechanical filters when used in conjunction with a suitable, chemical cleaning agent continually remove debris from a system over a set period of time.
The units can be hired or fitted permanently depending on the clients requirements.
Margal Environmental Sidestream Filtration Units for Closed Circuit Systems
The Margal series of cyclone filtration systems are designed for side stream filtration of closed circuit water systems to removal of suspended solids and sludge.
Ingress Water
Analysis of unknown ingress water to identify the sources e.g. rain water, high water table or sewer.
Features & Benefits
- Continuous filtration with no backwashing or flushing required
- Minimum water lost during purging - closed recovery system provides zero water loss
- Suitable for wide range of temperatures and pressures, including high temperature hot water, chilled water systems easily installed to existing systems
- Independent of system operation and flow
Compact Packaged System
Compact sized unit complete with pump and controls provides a high flow filtration system with minimal space requirement. Readily manhandled into position with no site assembly or lifting equipment required.
Performance
The CSF series units will remove metal oxides, precipitated hardness salts and other separable solids down to less than 20 micron on continuous recirculation.
